Chateau Amsterdam is a unique city winery that produces quality wines with grapes from Southern Europe. The wines are made in Amsterdam, where the grapes travel instead of the bottles. This ensures that the production process and knowledge of winemaking are brought closer to home, using grapes that cannot grow in the Dutch climate.

About the Maker
Remy Harrewijn dreamed of having his own winery from an early age. Together with his father Jos, an experienced winemaker trained by Alois Lageder in Italy, partner Tom Veugen and entrepreneur friends, he started Chateau Amsterdam. The passion for wine and winemaking is the driving force behind their business.

Production Process
At Chateau Amsterdam, grapes from France, Italy, Spain and Germany are transported to Amsterdam, where they are locally processed into wine. The winemaking process is kept as transparent as possible with tours and tastings. The wines are made from organic grapes with minimal additives, and some wines, such as Syrah, are even fermented on their own yeast. The wines are unfiltered, vegan and bottled with natural corks and sugar cane labels.

Sustainability
Chateau Amsterdam strives for the most natural production process possible. This means using organically or biodynamically grown grapes, minimal chemical additives and avoiding aluminum capsules in favor of natural wax. In addition, grape pressing waste is reused by local makers, which contributes to the circular economy in Amsterdam.
